Geocache Description:

This is the first in my "Lunchtime Escapes" series. These caches are places that I visit during my lunch breaks from work. This one is an easy park and grab micro at a historical area. Be very careful in retrieving and replacing this cache.

Many rivers have to serve boat traffic while also allowing for car traffic to cross. The most common way this is accomplished is using a drawbridge, but there are other options.

This cache brings you to a place where you are able to view two different types of bridges - a swing bridge and a vertical lift bridge. A vertical lift bridge lifts the roadway up parallel to the ground so a boat can sail underneath. A swing bridge turns the roadway parallel to the river bank. You will be able to read more about these unusual types of bridges and their history when seeking this cache. Enjoy!
