This micro cache is located just off of the Al Foster Trail in west St. Louis County and is only a few hundred feet from parking. Trail hours are from 7:00 am to 1/2 hour past sunset.
This loop of the Meramec River, from Times Beach to Sherman, has some Civil War significance and is known as "Rebel Bend". Further upstream from the cache site is "Rebel Cabin Hollow". The mainline of the Missouri Pacific Railroad ran here until the 1930's and was the site of a daring 1910 train robbery.
