Hervey Preserve
The Hervey Preserve, a 35-acre site just north of the Eel River in the 1500 block of Michigan Avenue. The preserve is a place of solitude only a few feet from a state highway.
It includes a stone labyrinth 90 feet in diameter as well as a 1.1- mile path to the River Bluff Trail.
A local hospital foundation built the labyrinth in 2003 as a Make a Difference Day project. The labyrinth, made of stone and mulch in the Chartes style, is one of only a handful in the state. Many newly-made labyrinths exist today, in churches and parks. Labyrinths are used by modern mystics to help achieve a contemplative state. Walking among the turnings, one loses track of direction and the outside world, thus quiets the mind. The result is a relaxed mental attitude. This is a form of meditation.
Many people believe that meditation has health benefits as well as spiritual benefits.
Take the opportunity, and walk the labyrinth. It's great for the soul.
The container, is full of goodies and blends in well.
The cache is slightly offset from the labyrinth, please do not disturb the labyrinth's structure.
