During World War II the 27th Australian Infantry Battalion (AIF) and the 28th Australian Infantry Battalion (AIF) were deployed at this location. Later during the war both Battalions were deployed to the Pacific Theatre.
This area is full of history and there is a lot of artifacts and old structures (or whats left of them) to be seen in the vicinity. Take a bit of time to explore this wonderful historical site.
There were casualites inflicted on members of the 28th Battalion during air attacks by the Japanese in 1943 and I thought that it was very fitting to place this cache on Remembrance Day.
The cache is a small to medium sealed PVC pipe. It contains a standard logbook, some small goodies and a geocoin. There is room for swaps, but please keep them small.
