Geocache Description:

Ingleton Amble - Aquaduck

This cache is in the small village of ingleton deep in the heart of the yorkshire dales.

Ingleton is the land of caves and waterfalls

The cache is on an old site of an aquaduct which used to take water over the river doe to a corn mill, then it changed use to a textile mill which burned down not once but twice over the years,The mill has since been converted into houses.

Just along the way is the outdoor swimming pool, the first sods were dug in 1933 by a few local men, shortly after they started there was a miners strike at the local colliery then efforts were boosted when all hands made light work.

In august 1934 a pool was born, water was feed into the pool from the river by a 3" pipe which took 25 hours to fill.
It was rated 52nd out of a 100 in outdoor swimming pools throughout the world.
