Nine of Diamonds in Florida Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

poosu: Some of the abutters to this conservation area have taken to harassing cachers on the trails, so after 10 years and almost 200 finds I'm going to have to take them down.

Sorry

Geocache Description:

An easy series on a good trail. It's a 1.6 mile loop but there are currently 5 caches on this loop. No night caching

Nine of diamonds, meandmydogs, what's this all about? Meandmydogs is in the top handfull of New Hampshire cachers who have given the most back to the game. This summer while I was snowbirding up there she sponsered 3 events and is approaching 300 hides, all of which get maintained. GC13GGX is what she calls a virus cache. It contained a deck of cards and to claim the find you had to find the cache, get a card, hide a cache naming it after the card you took from the cache and log the find with the name and waypoint of the new cache. The cache was full of a bunch of film canisters as well, but I think MAMD, as she is known, deserves better so this one is an ammo can. The cache has some swag and a FTF buck in it.

The cache is just off the yellow blazed trail in the Gamble Place nature conservancy area. It is part of Gamble Place which you enter off CR 421 commonly called Dunlawton Rd. There is a brown sign marking the entrance. Park at N29 05.495 W081 02.667. This is the tour entrance to Gamble place and the recommended parking as it is outside the gates. You can pick up the trail near the creek bed you crossed on the way in. The trail is designed for golf carts so it is an easy trail. The cache is close to a place on the trail called Sunshine Corner. The yellow blazed trail is a loop of 1.6 easy miles. I stayed on the trail which is well marked by green "trail" signs. I did not take any of the "no carts" trails which might save a couple tenths but the main trail is so easy I didn't think it was worth it.

Nearby Gamble Place has tours of the Gamble estate as well as boat tours on Spruce Creek. There is a canoe and kayak lauch where you can launch or rent. No night caching
