Geocache Description:

Park at N 54 51.696 W001 52.152. from the car park cross the footbridge and turn left, keep to the path that follows alongside the river for a walk of about 1/1.5 miles along a really lovely stretch of the River Derwent. The footpath can be a little muddy after wet weather but nothing that is too difficult to deal with.
For a shorter walk you could park at Allensford country park but then you will need to walk along the very busy A68 for a short distance and it's not as nice a walk.

The River Derwent rises 518 metres above sea level in the heart of the North Pennines. It runs for 35 miles (56 km)Passing through areas of Northumberland, County Durham and finally into Tyne and Wear finishing as it runs into the Tyne near the Metrocentre.
You will see lots of wildlife along the river, we've seen Jays, Kingfishers, Deer as well as all the usual suspects, and if you go during warmer months you will see plenty of Trout rising for the flies.
