We’ll help you figure out some of these questions but you may
not like the answer! Strange things have happened in this small
community and they don’t like their dirty secrets revealed to the
general populace. For you see, there has been a murder here and you
have been called upon to solve the Myosotis Murder Mystery! Long
has this mystery gone unanswered. Many have tried and many have
failed. Do you have what it takes to uncover the truth? If your
interest is still piqued and you have pushed that lump in your
throat back to whence it came, then read on. Clues have been left
behind to help any would-be detectives determine who committed the
murder, where they committed the murder, and with which weapon the
victim was felled.
Quick directions for completing this mystery cache:
- Go to each of the locations that you
see linked to this page and locate the hidden
containers
- Each container holds information
about who is innocent, which location the murder DID NOT take
place, as well as which weapon WAS NOT used
- Take a notepad found within any of
the containers and check off the clues you
locate
- When you are finished, put what you
have left to good use and reveal who did it, where they did it, and
with which weapon they did it!

Rensselaerville, placed on the State and National Registers of
Historic places in 1983, is a beautiful hamlet just outside of
Berne, at the end of Route 85. Settled in 1787 after Stephen
VanRensselaer offered free tracts of land, Rensselaerville
continued to grow through the 1800’s until many of their forest
resources were used up. This had an impact on the land’s ability to
retain rainfall, which caused a severe drop in the watershed. Many
mills, dependant upon water, went out of business. This, the
opening of tracts of land to the west, the bypassing of the hamlet
by rail and water transportation, and the implementation of
mechanized farming techniques, caused many settlers to move on.
Come see many of the stunning 18th century architecture
that still remains, the small, home-town feel that this hamlet has
to offer.

The cache container is not located at the I.P.
If it were, you would need a permit from the town to first swim
there and you would need the specialized gear that would allow you
to find the cache in this 100 acre lake. To find the final
container, you will have to solve the Murder Mystery @ Myosotis by
finding all of the caches our group effort placed in this wonderful
preserve.
