Geocache Description:

Cracking views north make this a wonderful viewpoint and it's just a gentle climb up through the woods from Wray Cottage. Pick a good day to enjoy the scene to its fullest.

There are a lot of pheasants being reared in the area so please keep any dogs under control. There are often sheep in the field as well. The cache site is near the top of the huge Sandside Quarry but you will not get much sense of its presence.

From DD1 - The Old Bridge
Go back over the bridge into the deer park and follow the signed path south up the gently rising grass. At a trig point like sign, bear right to Haverbrack. Cross the drive and follow the path up to the houses and road.

Head straight on along the lovely lane. Good views to the left over the tarn. After a sharp corner, Wray Cottage is seen. Follow signs for Hollins Well, and shortly after a gate, bear right heading north up the ridge through the trees on the good path.

Near the top the path passes an old reservoir and a Royal Observer Corp bunker - for more info see: Subterranea Britannica. (Thanks Duncan for the link.) Just beyond you will see a small area of limestone 'pavement' on the left. The trees will probably interfere with the signal so you may find the hint helpful. Please re-hide well.

Once the cache is found continue along the path and through the kissing gate onto the open top for the wonderful views. To the north is Heversham Head, which gives the reverse views to this hill, see: GC10Z96
