Geocache Description:

This is a series that I will be placing along Dixie Highway. I've started this series to highlight the towns and cities along the way.

The Dixie Highway was the brainchild of Carl Fisher. In 1913 he envisioned a roadway linking Chicago with the yet undeveloped Miami Beach. It was no coincidence that Fisher owned large tracts of land in Florida, and was interested in developing this acreage into a tourist mecca. Fisher enlisted the support of Midwestern and Southern governors who endorsed his proposal in April of 1915.

Beaware that towns along the way may call it by a different name, but it's still part of the great "Dixie Highway"!!

Feel free to add your own cache to any town along it's route.

I placed this cache in my husband's hometown. This is a great town that has award winning schools and parks.

Every summer (usually in June) there is a "Drivin' the Dixie" road rally. It starts in Blue Island and heads south to Momence. Several towns along the way have activities going on during this rally. So if you're in the area in the summer, please check it out.

The container is a small pill bottle. Please bring your own writing utensil.
