My German friend STEFF! who introduced me to geocaching some
years ago, was here on a visit. He inspired and helped me set up my
first own cache, and here it is. We placed it on my way to fulfil
my civic duty in this November 2007 election, but it is not named
after our new PM.
It is located in a little park, once part of a private garden
belonging to Kevin Heinze (1928-2008), the well known gardening
expert and former TV personality, and his wife Jill. It was opened
to the public as 'The Peoples Garden' and is beautifully kept with
benches to sit on and listen to the birds, even a picnic table and
a rubbish bin. Sadly, some "visitors" don't seem to know what the
latter is for. I am sure they are not geocachers!
I would like to re-dedicate this cache to the memory of Kevin
Heinze, the passionate gardener and friend of the people, who was
always ready for a friendly chat whenever we happened to meet in
this little 'oasis'. Please treat it with care and the respect it
deserves.
The cache can be easily reached staying on the paths all the
way, except for the last step or so off the board walk, and even
that last step can be made without squashing any plants.
In keeping with the surrounds, we decided on a garden theme with
native seeds, and it would be good if geocachers could swap
accordingly.
Container: a 1 litre Sistema box.
Contents: 5 Australian wildflowers seed
packets
Please swap similar within the theme
Note: Special thanks to the builders of the new
board walk for carefully replacing the cache in its almost original
position.
