Geocache Description:

The co-ordinates take you to a sign which will put you on the line of the eastern boundary fault.
The earthquakes of long ago formed this huge geological fault which runs for about 80 km (50 mls) northwest from near Bromsgrove towards the Potteries.
The block of land with Cuckoo's nook at it's western edge has dropped hundreds of metres along an old line of weakness.
This has provided the region with valuable and easily worked limestone, sandstone, coal and iron all located closely together.
This was the main reason for Walsall's and the Black country's early industrial growth and prosperity.
When walking along this path you cross from the Dingle's limestone shale's to the more acidic soils of Cuckoo's nook, that is why there is such a dramatic change in the plants you find in each wood.

To claim this cache you must first find the sign which gives you lots more information about this fault line, take a photo of yourself or gps on front of the sign.
But please no photo's close enough to give any of the answers away.

If you are unable to do photo's then answer the following questions and email me the answer.

What can you see growing in Cuckoo's nook but not the Dingle ?

What colour is the subsurface carboniferous shale ?

What is the commonest type of rock found in the Black Country ?

The answer is on the sign.

Parking can be found on the Birmingham rd / Barr common junction 52 35.688 001 55.311 and follow the footpath along the field boundaries to the woods or on the Sutton road by the garden centre 52 34.889 001 55.525

THE SIGN HAS GONE MISSING AND ARE WAITING FOR WALSALL COUNCIL TO REPLACE IT. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO TAKE A PHOTO THEN PLEASE EMAIL ME WITH THE NUMBER THAT IS ON THE WOODEN POST BY THE SIGN.
