Updated: 4/5/24. . In the 16 years since this cache was placed a lot has changed in the world but not much along this pleasant trail. A couple of the trees have departed and I needed to remove a stage and move the final a bit but otherwise its unchanged. This one mile walk takes you on paths through a forest of beech, maple and oak past some slightly weird and beautiful trees to the cache. Coordinates are for the first stage. Because of the tree cover, some of the coordinates may not match well so use the weird tree pictures to locate the stage markers. The trees are all visible from the path, and all but one close to it. You may have to clear some leaves. Please re-hide as found. Staying on the path until you are near is the best idea. Certain parts of the walk have relatively steep grades and one of the stages requires a little scrambling through the thorns but the stages are decent sized and should be easy to spot. Each one lists the last four digits of the coordinates of the next stage with the N 41 3. W 70 3. being a given.
Print the updated hint page and bring it. Use your “best” print quality setting to get a reasonable likeness. (If you cache with a smart phone you won't need the printer) The seven tree stages are shown (not in order though, and not the cache) From the suggested parking area follow the mossy trail to stage one. When you find it, plug in the coordinates for stage two, and note which of the seven frames matches the find. The stages follow the path and are meant to be found in sequence. Each tree you identify narrows the array for the next one. In fact you can pretty much just follow the path and use the pictures and hints if you want. The cache is near the trail right where you might put it. Please replace the stages as found; add a bit of native camouflage as needed: they are meant to be seen if you look at them but not to casual view.
. .....Have fun. Post some photos of what captures your eye. See you on the trails.
