Geocache Description:

This 5L cache is located halfway along the Taieri Millennium Track between Henley and Taieri Mouth.

There are three ways to access to this cache the first is to park and walk from the car park at Taieri Mouth; the second way is to park and walk from at the Henley Ferry Bridge end; the third is boat to John Bull Gully and walk to the cache.

The cache is located about 30 meters of the main track coming from the Henley end just before descending into John Bull Gully. Please be aware that they are some steep hillsides near the cache so please keep an eye on any children.

Walking times to this cache can vary between two hours if your fit and 3 hours if your out on a leisurely stroll. Alternatively you are allowed to mountain bike this track from the Henley Ferry Bridge end - it is a pretty easy graded track. I would not recommend biking from the Taieri Mouth end as their are multiple sets of steps.

The cache is a 5L jam bucket, camo painted and covered in sticks. When placed the cache contained along with a logbook, pencils and pencil sharper; a Ubuntu Linux 7.10 install disc, some cow pegs, a bracelet, some fancy tins and various other trades.

This would be an ideal cache for a family walk, take some food and drink and make it into a picnic at John Bull Gully, swimming maybe an option on hot summer days.

This is the second cache in the Otago Walkways series.

One of the amazing things about Geocaching is the ability for exercise - this cache is a tribute to that.

*** PLEASE NOTE ***
I have indicated in the attributes that the area contains poisonous plants. Along this track grows the native tree stinging nettle (Urtica Ferox) - it is a really nasty plant - please ensure you don't accidentally brush up against it - there is more information at (visit link)
