This cache is located atop the Monte Cavallo above Piancavallo, Italy.
This is the first of what I hope to be several caches dedicated to the 603 Air Control Squadron, better known as the "Scorpions". Since this is the highest peak in the area I figure it's a good place to start.
We parked at 46 06.744N 012 30.839E and 4,253' of elevation. The summit where you'll find the cache is at elevation 7,228'
The trip to the top of the highest of 4 peaks took a round trip time of about 6 hours. There were 5 of us and it started snowing about half the way up so things got pretty slick. If it's a smaller group and in better shape than us and the weather was better, the trek wouldn't take as long.
Small kids NOT reccomended unless they can climb like a mountain goat.
Noting the dificulty of the trip up and lack of good cover at the top, the cache will be easy to find.
It has 2 military patches, a monkey on a tree and a lizzard for the inital contents.
