This cache is located in Ragged Mountain park. The cache is not far off the loop trail with a beautiful view. The climbing of these cliff routes on Ragged Moutain were pioneered in the 1930s, with Fritz Wiessner prominent among the climbers.
Fritz Wiessner (1900-1988) was a pioneer of free climbing. Born in Dresden, Germany, he emigrated to New York City in 1929. He became a U.S. citizen in 1935. Fritz led difficult ascents until he was 87 years old and was quoted saying, "When I cannot climb, I want to die". This cache is in honor of his memory.
