Geocache Description:

In Deep River on Rt. 154; look for a small Canfield Woods sign; parking for 6-8 vehicles. Dogs allowed.

Welcome to Canfield-Meadow Woods Nature Preserve, a 300-acre area of ridges, valleys, wetlands, and stonewalls with marked trails in Deep River and Essex. Earl and Margaret Canfield acquired this land over many years and then worked toward its preservation as open space when they relocated to North Carolina in the mid-seventies. In 2005, their son David returned with his three children and five grandchildren for a special ceremony to honor his parents. This three-cache series is designed to acquaint you with this wonderful area by leading you on a circumnavigation throughout most of the preserve; little bushwhacking is required and you won’t have to retrace your steps. The caches are designed to be completed all at once but can certainly be done one at a time. The total round-trip mileage is about five miles.

This is part 3 of a three-part cache series. You are looking for a micro which contains coordinates to the final stage, an ammo can. Consult your map for the best route choices and enjoy the hike. Before returning to your car, check out the Split Rock natural feature at the listed coordinates.

**Note- if done by itself, this cache is best started at the Rt. 154 entrance, about N 41:22.310, W 072:25.733.
