The co-ordinates will take you to a monument and plaque erected by comrades,admirers and family to the memory of Joseph.F.Palazzi of the NSW 1st Contingent M.R.who fell at Palmietfontein,South Africa on the 19 th July 1900.Age 22 years.For his Queen and country.
Located in a large beautiful park in Wagga Wagga ,this tribute is well worth seeing, surrounded by tranquil gardens and pathways.
On July 19 th 1900,whilst pursuing the Boer General Christian de Wet,Joseph Palazzi was shot in the chest and killed.His brother Silvio found his body that night and he was buried at sunrise.After the war Silvio spent the rest of his life in Wagga Wagga.He died on 25 th May 1950 and is buried in a local cemetary.
