You could easily park & grab this cache on this historical pioneer cemetery's perimeter but it is highly recommend to take a few minutes to find the trail around the corner & walk in a few yards to see the very unique & historical cemtery.

*******PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ROADSIDE MEMORIAL NEXT TO THE CACHE IS NOT THE HISTORICAL CEMETERY "HIGHLIGHTED" IN THIS CACHE. THANKS.

You have the chance to take this sentimental journey and see the rare metal (zinc) art-deco grave markers of our Key Peninsula pioneers in this long-abandoned cemetery (the trail spurs right from the residential driveway on Creviston Road; safest parking is the sideroad, 118th. Cemetery is public property so you won't be trespassing). It took me several weekends to find this cemetery originally but now you have GPS & coordinates! (Historical graves are about 100 feet exactly to the East but please do not try to bushwack between the two. There is a short trail from Creviston Rd that leads you right to the graves. Please enjoy this unique cemetery.)

Additional historical info:
From the 1963 publication "Old Cemeteries of Washington" page 5: (Elgin) Minter Cemetery is located south of Purdy, Washington. There has been great distrustion, even recently, and is very over grown. The stones are very large. No records are known to exist. The cemetery has not been used since the early 1900's. The cemetery, donated by the Moss family, contains only four recorded burials. Transcriptions:

Edington, Effie Octavia, age 24 died 28 Feb 1892
Nelson, Emma G. (wife of Fred A. Nelson) 21 July 1862-12 Feb 1907
Way, David G. 3 Oct 1855-10 Mar 1913

Note from Key-Center Historical Society 2004:
The property is public. It is treed with very large trees and dense salal. One grave stone remains.

After note: I'm really amazed how many cachers find this one even though it's in a pretty rural location. BUT...only a few cacher reported finding or looking at the historical graves. If you wish to please note directions above (the entrance to the trail going to the graves is around the corner from the cache. You must enter/find the short 50' trail from Creviston Road not 118th. This is a really interesting place if you have time to find the graves and old cast tin markers!) Note: memorial was placed in this area after cache was hidden.
