Please read the sign on the south side of the road before looking
for this cache. Obey all laws and use good common sense! For the
past 2-3 years during nesting season we have seen a VERY BIG mama
with babies and a smaller mama with babies at the end of the
boardwalk. Younger females will nest near a larger female for extra
protection. Males will eat the babies so they are not allowed near
the nest. Alligator mothers are VERY protective and will protect
any babies in her area. So if a baby gator cries, all the mothers
will come running. On a really cool program on the Discovery
Channel a mother turtle placed her nest next to a gator nest. After
the baby turtles hatched the mother gator was filmed picking up the
babies in her mouth, at first you thought she was going to eat
them, but then she carried the turtle babies down to the waters
edge and placed them gently into the water. Pretty cool! Be kind!
Don't feed or throw anything at them. The ranger said one has
already lost an eye due to someone throwing something at it. With
all that said, have fun finding the cache. It's a camoed container
with lots of goodies for trading. NOT NEAR THE GATORS!
