The cache is Very well hidden...
Mt. Nebo, one of the highest mountain peaks in Athens County, is one of the most famous of the haunted spots. Apparently, at some point in the late 1800‘s, the British Psychical Society named Athens, and Mt. Nebo, one of the most haunted spots in the world, possibly because of the extraordinary events that were linked to it. Spiritualists were drawn here because of what was called the "Spirit Room" of the Koons family. Jonathan Koons,a devout atheist, was a rough, self-educated farmer who became fascinated with the Spiritualist movement. In 1852, he began receiving word from the spirits that he should build a Spirit Room, where ghosts manifested for more than six years. The spirits demanded the family build a cabin on their property for their own use, which would become known as the Spirit Room.
The room was to be 12 foot by 14 foot, with exactly three windows, one door, and seven foot high ceilings. Koons also claimed that the spirits dictated all features of the cabin, including the furnishings that went inside such as the specifically designed table and several musical instruments, which the spirits played. The family couldn't afford all the items, but borrowed some from their neighbors. The spirits could also work of their own accord, by writing on pieces of paper left on the table in the cabin, after the family went to sleep at night. The séances and strange events that occurred here remain unexplained to this day.
At one point Mt. Nebo was labeled one of the most haunted spots in the world, with spiritualists claiming the area had once been a sacred Shawnee Indian spot.
According to some the nearby residents of Millfield were a little freaked out by the spirit room so they marched on the Koons family home and burnt it to the ground. The family claimed their farm was burned, their children attacked, and eventually left Mt. Nebo. The family then relocated to Illinois and disappeared. There is no trace of the house at this time but there are some neat things on top.
The cache itself is VERY well hidden but the hint will help out a lot. The cache is an ammo can and is hidden at the base of a tree. Please, no digging is required. And please hide the cache as well as it is now or better.
Go at night for a real nice hunt...
