Suspicious Minds Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

FSU*Noles: Bad news, even the King can't stop the inevitable march of progress...it looks like this piece of land is being developed, and the stump that hid this cache has been fed to the wood-chipper. Huge thanks to Shoestorm for rescuing the cache from underneath a big pile of woodchips! I will make up a new container and scout a couple of locations soon, so that the King may live on. Thanks to everyone who stopped by!

Song Details

"Suspicious Minds" was the 18th and final #1 hit recorded by Elvis Presley while he was still alive. It was a huge comeback song for Elvis, as it had been seven years since his last #1 hit, and is viewed as the single that re-jump-started his career. Rolling Stone later ranked it #91 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and in 1999, the song was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

The song was originally written by Memphis singer Mark James, who recorded and released his own version, but it went nowhere. Memphis Soul producer Chips Moman then brought the song to Elvis, who immediately fell in love with it and decided he could turn it into a hit.

This track was recorded between 4 and 7 in the morning at Moman's American Sound Studios in January 1969. The music produced during this landmark Memphis session is widely regarded as some of Elvis' best-sounding work, and it helped Evis reclaim the title of "The King" at last.

Location, Parking, and Access

This cache is located behind Plymouth Station, just off a set of mowed grassy trails that wind through the marsh. Ample free and legal parking is available near the cache. Unless you want to slog through the reeds, please use the trailhead at N 45° 01.143 W 093° 29.501, and follow the grassy trail as it S-curves through the marsh.

When the trail ends, it's a short bushwhack through the grass to the cache location. This time of year it's an easy stroll, but I'm guessing that Summer will bring mud, bugs, thorns, and the usual pleasantries to add to your caching experience. You are looking for a regular Lock & Lock container, hidden in the usual sort of place. The cache starts out with assorted trinkets and camping supplies...as always - thanks, have fun, and happy hunting!
