Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed to bring awareness to the Alternative Energy Systems in place or are in approval in this area of Southern Alberta. A 20 unit wind farm is in operation and can be seen from the cache location. It is recommended that the geocachers who find this cache take the time to drive to one of the wind turbine structures to properly get an appreciation of the size of one of the units.

A bit further south is one of the main irrigation reservoirs for one of the largest irrigation systems in North America, the St Mary Irrigation System. An 11 MW Hydro Electric Powerplant produces electricity when water is transferred from the reservoir to the main irrigation distribution canal, the plant operates only in the summer.

Just west of here (next to the McCain Plant) is a small internal combustion power plant that uses the off gases from a treatment facility that treats cattle and hog manure as a means to minimize waste from the animal operations. The solid waste products are then used as fertilizer. The power operations in the area are home to some of the most diverse power generating facilities in Canada.

Pins-pins-pins, this cache contains only pins, Town of Taber Pins, MD of Taber Pins, Nexen Pins, Epcor Pins. If possible trade only pins. The cache container is a small Ziploc plastic jar containing the pins, logbook and writing instruments. The cache will be checked perodically to ensure the pin supply remains constant. Good luck and enjoy the scenery.
