Off the railroad tracks and up a creek
Think "Sons of the Gestapo". The site is remote, but the history is rich. This is where Amtrak's Sunset Limited was purposely derailed in 1995. They never caught the perpetrator(s), and it remains a mystery to this day. Note the damage to the railroad bridge (West End abutment), and the newer ties on the roadbed. There is a historical article in the cache.
Note this rail line has been out of service since 1996. Take plenty of water, & be careful, you probably won't see anyone else the whole time you are out there.

this is a 4wd cache only... unless you decide to hike your way in, then by all means, go for it! In any case, if you approach from the east or the west, you will have to cross several washes which are filled with soft sand and gravel.
