Salteode Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

jasumi: We have reluctantly decided to archive this cache. The area has been chopped about quite considerably since its original placement and we no longer feel a secure hide is sustainable. Thank you to everyone who has visited.

Geocache Description:

A short walk from the suggested parking in the village of Saltwood.

Salteode was the name of the village recorded in the Book of Domesday.

The walk takes you along a bridleway with some very palatial properties at the start and then into woodland that may be a little muddy underfoot in wet weather. There are good views across to Dungeness. Parking is close to the church of St Peter & St Paul - there is a cache hidden at the church, Church Micro 1204...Saltwood. The earliest part of the church dates from between 1100 and 1150 AD. The gates to the parking area are open between 8.45am and 5.30pm but there is ample on-street parking nearby.

Another of our caches is nearby, Sealtwde - another historical name for the village of Saltwood.

Tweezers advised and BYOP.
