Came across this rare jem of a place in the process of doing “Gotta Boat? # 2”. We didn’t have a boat so the alternative was to walk to the said cache which we did from a point not far from this cache. I must say it was a delightful experience!
Here you’ll find a great variety of bird and plant life and another quite stark but beautiful vista of the bay and surroundings especially if you come at sunset as we did. Actually we were here long enough to see a full moon rise in the East which cast an amazing ghostly white light across the marsh waters. A perfect setting for a suspense filled murder mystery or horror film perhaps.
The washed up seaweed made the area quite smelly but if you’ve done any of my other caches you’ll be used to that!

I also noticed while Google searching for information about the area that you can buy your own piece of real estate here for around 50 grand. I’m sure the kids and especially the wife will love it!
It has been pointed out to me that this area has fame due to certain scenes from the 1979 film, Mad Max. I have included a link which was kindly passed on to me by janaliel. http://www.madmaxmovies.com/making/madmax/AvalonBeach/index.html
This area has also been used on a cover CD - see the log from jinkyandjohn and their attached photograph "Chris Wilson released this double CD in 1998. I can't remember when I got the idea that the images were from Avalon Beach, it may have even been chatting with Chris or Sarah. And here it is, on the road to the cache."

February 2012 - After adopting this cache from chewinprickles & Robmc and getting it back on-line, it was muggled yet again! Sooooooo . . . . . we have decided to reposition the cache and change the size.
Former finders are invited to find again and those that DNF'd are encouraged to have another go.
