Geocache Description:

The third and last in the Pub Road series.

By now you should have collected a Northing co-ordinate from Pub Road Series #1: Rogate Common (GC17P4T), a Westing co-ordinate from the second in the series, Chapel Common (GC17092) and have a count of the number of pub legs between Rogate Common and the parking co-ordinates shown above.

There are some additional parking spaces further up the left hand fork or if you intend to visit the local pub you could leave the car there.

The name of the pub is not given here so you don't get a head start with the pub legs count, it does however come thoroughly recommended and extensively tested, does great food and drink, has a large garden and even its own camping field details of which we can provide on request.

As of April 2014 you should assume a count of 4 for this last pub, the new owners have erected a very nice new sign but the number of legs is not what it was, so use 4.

UPDATE MARCH 2017: At one point you will be asked to find a set of three numbers, one of three digits, one of two and one of just one. The information has changed so you will need to add 2 to the two digit number and subtract 1 from the three digit number. Good luck - feel free to give me a call if you are stuck.

UPDATE JANUARY 2021: The cache has had to be moved about 30 metres from its original hiding place so please subtract 0.011 from Northings and 0.020 for Westings to find the new final location

There are some wonderful views to be had and things to see on the route so binoculars would be a useful addition to your normal caching equipment.

All that is left is for you to set off to the co-ordinates you have previously retrieved from the first two caches in the series. You should allow around two hours to get around the route, retrieve the cache and return to the pub for a well earned drink. This is assuming of course that you can solve the various clues on route which build upon and progress from the knowledge you gained for Chapel Common.

The Dangerous Area attribute is shown as part of the route borders a Military Dry Training Zone. Dry training does not involve the use of live ammunition, but it may include the use of pyrotechnics, blank ammunition and other battle simulators. Be prepared for sudden noises! Public access is permitted along public rights of way within the Dry Training Areas at all times, but for obvious reasons the cache route does not require you to enter this area and neither should you pick up any unknown metal objects. Follow this link about The Longmoor Ranges for more information.

You are searching for an ammo box but it is not in the vicinity of the dry training area and is fully labelled as a Geocache as shown here.

Amongst the various goodies the box contains is an unactivated Travel Bug tag as a reward for the First to Find.
