Geocache Description:

Park in the Forest car park at Kirkburn (N 55º 38.075' W 03º 07.531'). A fairly easy but uphill walk with dogs or older children. The marked trails have changed over the years but this path links different part of the marked trails. This used to be on a circular route. The last few meters is a short scramble over uneven grass, watch your footing. There are lots of possible hiding spots here. Some say it is in the most obvious one, some disagree!

This is a good spot for dog walking or brisk stroll, the view from the cache is good, but if you want a fantastic walk, head south from the cache along Kirkburn Upper Road (the forest road near the cache) and join the other trails at the next main junction. If you have time to explore the trails, the views from the cairn and from the fort down the Tweed Valley are excellent. Over the hill there is Cardrona Tower, one of the many Towers dotted along the Tweed. The cache is a 3 litre lockable Tupperware box. We placed this when our two dogs were pups and it was our favorite walk. We have renamed the Cache in memory of one of those pups who sadly died in 2017. His name was Taz or officially Earl O'Hell's Waistcoat; he was black with a white patch on his chest. See photos, he was a great dog and we miss him. Our other "pup" is now 14, but he still toddles up the hill with us. He has been joined by another black and white pup every bit as energetic as our original two.
