Whinfell provides excellent walking over its many dips and peaks. The ridge links the A6 with the Lune valley. The bridleway in the valley bottom provides a great opportunity for a circular walk. Start at either the NW end by parking on the A6 or at the eastern end on the A685/M6.
Castle Fell is a separate enough top to warrant its own cache. There are several other caches along the ridge and in the valley bottom, which together make an excellent geohike. See the bookmark on right or:
The Bog Bears have also added three caches on the north ridge, so now you could do a three leg walk along both ridges and the valley! See bookmark list on right.
The cache is located near to the summit of Castle Fell and provides excellent views down into Borrowdale, south to Kendal and Morecambe Bay, and a sweeping panorama around many other hills. This is a nice grassy fell to wander over.
