Excessive amounts of parking, easy cache when there is not a lot of snow on the ground.
This is a green, plastic ammo can. When placed it contained: a Disney patch, wooden elephant, Ole Yeller TB, small flower press, photo album, book, pencils, rubber ball, Mickey Mouse tie, action figures, etc.
Since many cachers seemed interested in the history of these buildings I did a little research, though reports are somewhat sketchy. Information from 1857 describes it as a Poor House, housing "lunatics and paupers". It was a working farm at the time which sustained the "inmates" along with a weekly cost of 50 cents to support an average of 95 inmates.
The site remained The County Poor House and Infirmary until the 1960's. There is a Potter's Field on the grounds where the residents were buried in unmarked graves. There are small stone monuments designating the area to the north of the buildings.
The campus later became called the County Infirmary Medical Center and then the Headquarters for Social Services. It is now mostly empty except for a few offices in one building and the county garage in the back. The baseball fields are used by AnJo baseball league in the summer.
