Geocache Description:

. the trail can get muddy and be covered with an inch or two of water if the tides are high. the short way may not always be the easy way. The park hours are from dawn to dusk except for fishing

The theme of this cache is animals. the can is full animal and dino figures. please try to keep to the theme. The cache is on what is called the spit. the Port Ewen spit was built when the delawere & Hudson canal was closed down. they dreged the Rondout creek so they could bring in larger barges in off river. the old canal barge carcusses were left here to rot because they were not able to handle the wind and waves on the river
