Prior to the Napier earthquake the location of this site was an island within the Ahuriri lagoon. The cache is a short 15 minute walk from the carpark. It contains a logbook and a few small items. Take a few minutes to explore the area, there are a number of DOC signs showing historic places with photo's and drawings showing what the area was like prior to the earthquake.
Please be advised, if you are taking small children on this one, at the time the cache was placed there were large thistles EVERYWHERE!
PLEASE NOTE: THIS AREA IS CLOSED FOR LAMBING DURING THE MONTHS OF JULY, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER.
