Claytown Kids Park - City of Snohomish July, 1991
Years ago, the area of Snohomish west of Avenue D was known as Claytown because of a brick factory in the vicinity. This side of town also sported a baseball team called "Claytown Kids".
In keeping with the historical nature of Snohomish, the name Claytown Kids Park was adopted for this city park.
Parents looking to create a place especially for children to play formed a neighborhood task force in 1990.
Through their dedication, with the support of the city council and others, this new park was opened for play July 20th, 1991.
*Wayne Dean*
A portion of the funding for this park was donated in loving memory by the friends of Wayne Dean, former city park caretaker, who gave his life saving his grandchildren from the surf at Long Beach, Washington on July 12th, 1990
