Please Don't park on tarmac road, please use public footpath see OS Sheet 99, This is a high "Muggle Zone" Stealth! required, follow the signs, please use Parking way point, Please hide the cache well as the path can be busy !

In the hedgerow in the corner of a field, where the path crosses a deep dyke, is an ancient stone pillar, let into a larger stone at it's base is a morticed socket. Known as Sandhutton Cross, this marks the boundaries of Thirsk, Carlton Miniott & Sandhutton "Grainge says" The busy tongue of tradition reports that at some unknown period the town of Thirsk was ravaged by the Plague, and the Market was held in open fields here, and the cross was erected at that place, the date is unknown. The container is a camouflaged 500ml screw top tub, please hide well in under growth.
