Geocache Description:

A short, easy walk from the ferry though a charming little grove.

This is on one of BI's newest footpaths, built for residents of Vineyard Lanes to get to the ferry on foot. So, it's a good one for foot passengers or cyclists coming from Seattle.

It was built by private money and then sold to the city for $1 at a $799,000 loss! It seems to me like responsible development, which isn't that common among developers. Here is a newspaper article about it: (visit link)

Bring your own pencil or pen. It can hold coins and small TBs.

WARNING/TIP #1 -- DON'T WALK ALONG HIGHWAY 305.

While legal, this is a busy highway and there is no need to walk on it. The whole point of the cache is to enjoy the new trail.

WARNING/TIP #2: ONLY PARK IN LEGAL, MARKED PLACES.

Because of problems with commuter ferry parking, the Island strictly enforces parking laws. However, there are lots of legal 2-hour spots in Winslow, including some just five minutes south of the cache around where Cave Ave and Winslow way connect.
