This cache is inspired by Shakespeare's comedy
Cymbeline. A synopsis of the play as well as the full
text can be found here. Being one of Shakespeare's lesser known
and performed plays, there have been no noteworthy film or
television adaptations.
"To lapse in fullness
Is sorer than to lie for need, and falsehood
Is worse in kings than beggars."
(Act III, Scene VI)
Like all my other Shakespeare caches, you do not have to read
the play to find the cache.
The Area
This cache is located in the Manchester Cedar Swamp Preserve. A
map of the area can be found here. It's a beautiful area and there is
already one very nice cache here which gives you a nice tour of one
part of the area. However, you might miss another part of the area
known as the Rhododendron Loop. When you do this
cache, you'll see how the trail got its name - even in the dead of
winter. Do walk the entire loop when you do the cache since both
parts of the loop are worth visiting. When you are at the cache,
you can either return back to the trail and continue the loop or
bushwhack in the opposite direction you came from and you'll hit
the other side of the loop shortly - the loop is very narrow at
this point.
Please Note
- The cache is a 30 cal ammo can.
- The cache is about midway between the two legs of the loop. So
you can take either part of the loop to the cache and the other
part back from the cache. There's not really any shorter way in or
out.
- You should stick to the trails until close to the cache.
Shortcuts may get you wet.
