Easier in Winter #4 Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This series of caches can be found any time of year but are intended to be easier in Winter, mostly because of the bushwhacking. Winter bushwhacking has much less foliage, insects and reptiles. All caches are extremely winter friendly.
This series of 7 caches follows one of our favorite snowshoe walks. There are 4 regular caches and 3 mystery caches. You will need to find the regular caches to get the coordinates for #’s 5 and 6. Caches 5 and 6 hold the coordinates for #7. All the caches are in the Lamontagne Wildlife Management area and can be seen without moving anything (although, some are harder to see than others). Lamontagne WMA is a multi use area which includes hunting and trapping, motorized vehicles are not allowed. Access is along a right-of-way woods road across private property, the property owner happily allows walk-in access to Lamontagne WMA, please respect the private property and DO NOT take vehicles into the WMA. If you do all 7 caches in order it will be a 2.5 mile round trip. Parking is at Woodman Marsh parking area, N 43° 10.279 W 071° 10.786, see GC12PXN for directions.
Wear appropriate clothing in Hunting Season.
Cache #4 is a large micro about twice the size of a film canister. It contains a log and half the coordinates for one of the mystery caches, it started with a pencil but you should bring your own writing implement just in case.
Continue following the Bean River (don’t cross), you will eventually hit a trail. Cache is about 125 feet off trail.
NOTE; The best time to go after these caches is right after a fresh snow fall.
