Reflections Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

H to the Bizzle!: I would like to thank everyone who offered their wonderful reflections over the past five years. I realized that between this hide and my micro that was also here I've had a cache here for the past ten years! I have decided to archive this and open up the area for someone else to place a hide. Cache picked up and removed today. Thanks to all who found it.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

A 50 cal. ammocan located near a great fishing locale.

For five years, my Old Cattaraugus (Used To Be A) Micro cache was hidden here. During that time it had over 100 visitors and even a re-location. When I was hiding this replacement it got me thinking about how much caching has grown in this area since 2005. The Arcade area had no caches at the time of the original placement, with the caches in Lost Nations and Brogan's caches in the Wyoming County Forestry being the closest hides. Now you look at a caching map of the area and the landscape has changed entirely.

I also started reflecting while I was sitting there admiring the babbling brook below how lucky I have been to be exposed to such beautiful and unique areas over the past six years as a result of caching. For this I am truly thankful.

Similar to BarbershopDru's hide 59 Reflections up in North Tonawanda, I would like all those who log this cache to include their own reflection, whether it be on life, caching, or whatever. I will continually update the cache page with each reflection.

REFLECTIONS:

Szuchie: "I'm thankful that there are still a few people out there that find value in placing ammo cans in the woods. Seems like so many folks are content to hide the uninspiring with the only focus being on the number of finds they can rack up."

Blobkatz: "What a beautiful fishing spot! My wife & I just started geocaching in June, it's something we both enjoy doing together. In this short time we have hiked to many places we never knew existed & I have lived in the imediate area for 40 years, my wife longer! If we can keep on doing the same thing together I don't see us having anything but a great time! Thank You very much!"

Dory the Explorer: "I think geocaching is so popular because of all it's aspects. From micros to ammo cans and TB's. It can be enjoyed by young and old and even people who are handicapped.( I.E.- my grandkids, my dad and myself !! - I just had knee surgery.) It is used by school groups to learn about nature, geography, technology and most likely things I can't think of! I have met so many nice people and seen so many places I would never have seen if it weren't for caching. I love my addiction!!"

Waynescout: "Geocaching is like being with my wife...you have your ups and downs! And sometimes I even beat her to the cache! Or does she let me?"

Grandpa Coco: "I like geocaching because I like to be out in nature. It's a good clean sport/hobby."

booboo_1: "I think of all the good and bad things that have happened in my life and I tend to think that most things in our lives happen for a reason. Sometimes the worst of situations can turn into something wonderful...sometimes not. Kindness goes a long way. I've always told my children that for every action there is a reaction."

atmospherium: "In less than two years geocaching has taken me to 10 different New York counties and literally hundreds of interesting places that I NEVER would have seen otherwise. Not bad. Thanks!"

Silverlocks0: "I was one of the last dozen or so to find H's replaced cache (GCPWRR) and am glad I can pause to reflect on how this sport has grown in just the 27 months I've been involved as I walk through another field of corn, climb over fallen trees and find this hide. When I started there were about 600,000 caches hidden around the planet. Today there are almost twice that number - amazing!!! What I continue to enjoy is the challenge of the find and the number of places I've visited that I wouldn't have otherwise."

RAJENSPRINGS85: "I HAVE BEEN GEOCACHING SINCE OCTOBER 2011 "REFLECTIONS" IS ACTUALLY THE SECOND CLOSEST CACHE TO MY HOME BASE BUT I NEVER MADE AN ATTEMPT TO RETRIEVE IT SO AS I BEGAN TO COLLECT SMILEY'S I DECIDED TO WAIT AND MAKE THIS MY 100TH CACHE FOUND SO I CAN NOW REFLECT BACK ON MY FIRST THREE MONTHS AND FIRST ONE HUNDRED CACHES THESE THOUGHTS I WILL RELAY WHEN TIME PERMITS THANKS "H TO THE BIZZLE" FOR BEING PART OF WHAT I HOPE IS MANY MILESTONES".

alpacagirl & nitrate: "found it ! Of course after we went to the right side of creek, lol.Great hide H . reflections- well I did see mine and Nitrates in the creek. As for caching We are new to this but have enjoyed every minute of our finds, no finds ,bug bites, scratches, bruises and time together!! We even muggled the H one time in Boston in your hot red geostang.lol We have met alot of fun, interesting people so far. And hope to meet alot more. The only thing is, I wish other cachers would Trade equal, and hide cache better then found.other then that , We love using Billion dollar Satellites, to find Tupperware in the woods. Cache on my friends, hope to meet you in the woods.: )"

Dragonflyby: " Having been a geocacher for about ten years now, I have to consider all the interesting fellow cachers I have met both in WNY and other parts of the country (world?) And I think about getting a birds' eye tour of New Orleans and the Mississippi River and caches on islands, in both warm and cold places, were I endured motion sickness to the nth degree. And how about that time I was hiding behind a large shrub and my fellow cacher was engaging in a most bizarre conversation with a muggle? And then there was that forever memorable trek on the Bruce Trail in February one year -- I can still feel that one! Or that multi that took about ten trips to the same park to find? Geocaching gets you out, often outside your comfort zone, and it's great fun. Amen."
