NOTE: 31/12/14. I have archived the Part 1 cache. I will keep this one going for those that have already found Part 1 and as a standalone cache for everyone else.

Palindrome n. a word, phrase or sequence that reads the same backwards as forwards e.g. racecar, radar, never odd or even, "Madam I'm Adam" etc.

A bit of background...

Those of you that are familiar with mumbo jumbo caches may have noticed that I like palindromes. At one point I had been planning a complicated palindromic trail but dropped the idea in favour of The Unfortunate Street Names Set. But I received a clear message from the caching gods to resurrect the idea when my car's odometer and trip reader displayed palindromes simultaneously - a moment of palindromic beauty!!!

In caching terms there are basically two types of palindromic co-ordinates. There are palindromic pairs where the N/S and E/W co-ordinates are each respectively palindromic. There are 3,600 of these carpeting each degree square. And then there's the more unusual 15 digit palindrome where, if you lay out all the numbers in the N/S and the E/W co-ordinates, you get a 15 number palindrome. There are 360 of these in each degree square. These seem to travel in diagonal NW - SE lines. Each point on a diagonal line is about 1.5 miles apart. The diagonals themselves are about 7.5 miles apart.

I've long since worked out the palindromic co-ordinates for my stomping ground (and visited a good many of them) and it is actually surprisingly difficult to get a workable set of palindromic co-ordinates from a caching perspective, as they typically fall in the middle of gardens, roads, factories etc...

But I digress! This series is a truncated version of my previous palindromic plan and has two caches at (or a few feet from) palindromic co-ordinates (from which you will need to retrieve information) and a Bonus which, curiously, is not at palindromic co-ordinates. This is the Part 1 cache. There is however a palindromic link at the Bonus cache's Micro location. See if you can spot it.

About the Part 2 cache

You should have read enough by now to know this is a palindromic pair cache location. The cache is very slightly offset from the true palindromic co-ordinates [subtract 3 from the North seconds and add 2 to the West seconds - averaged for 5 minutes]. If you are in any doubt the hint should be a big help. The logsheet displays the West co-ordinates for the Bonus cache micro stage. DO NOT FORGET TO MAKE A NOTE OF THEM. And bring your own pen / pencil.
