Tired? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ngaambul: As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

While this is not *technically* a rest area, if you've travelled up from Sydney or anywhere else for more than 2 hours you should STOP, REVIVE, SURVIVE & GO CACHING!

The Location: This cache is near where the Golden Highway (State Highway 84) leaves the Putty Road (part of route 69). Effectively the crossroads of Newcastle-Dubbo and Sydney-Singleton traffic.

Coal & Allied's Mount Thorley - Warkworth open cut mine is located to the East and South. It's hard to miss.

This cache is located in somewhat of an industrial wasteland and I did for a moment consider making this a CITO cache, but quickly realised you'd need some BIG gear to move some of the rubbish around here.

While in the area, why not have a sticky-beak around the Mt Thorley Industrial area to see some of the big gear used in the mines: Komatsu, Caterpillar, Daracon, Liebherr and a couple of Earthmover Tyre businesses call this area home just to name a few. There is a rough track leading from the cache to the industrial area, or you can stick to the main roads - up to you.

The cache: Is a regular sized camouflaged ammo box that should not be hard to find. Definitely not wheelchair friendly and small kids may need a help. Please watch out for spiders. Snakes may be around in the hotter months but I have not seen any. This is standard fare with pretty much any cache in the bush though. :)

A little stealth or timing may be required here (road in line-of-sight), but you are not close to any likely muggles.

Please BYO pen/pencil in case the one in the cache is not working.

Please take care to re-hide as found to stop cache getting wet with rain.
