The MESCo series of caches is based on the Geelong Tramways that operated from 1912 until 1956. A photo of a Geelong tram is present in all caches (either in the cache or log-book). The number of each of the trams should be noted as they will assist with finding the co-ordinates of a final mystery cache. Good luck.
MESCo was the Melbourne Electricity Supply Company that was the supplier of domestic electricity in Geelong and was also responsible for the construction and operation of an electric tramway system in the Geelong CBD and surrounding suburbs. At its peak it utilised 31 trams and had eight routes. The total route mileage in its heyday was around 12 miles. There are a few remnants of the system visible in places but they are not easily found.
This series of caches will take you to the termini of all the lines. Caches vary from magnetic micros to traditional hides. Difficulty also varies mainly due to the suburban locations and the presence of muggles.
Cache details: MESCo # 8
This was the terminus of the BEACH route. The line was the last to be opened on 19/10/1940 and utilised materials from the closed WHARF line. The line was one of the first closed on 08/01/1956 (in the heart of summer!) The route was virtually a city terminus that also serviced nearby Eastern Beach. Prior to 1952 trams ran from here to either NEWTOWN or WEST but after 1952 proceeded to CHILWELL. Undoubtedly services would have been organised to run from STATION to BEACH as required for holiday makers during summer.

The cache is a film canister with photo and log sheet only. Stealth will be required.
