This cache (like Dihydrogen Monoxide) is
dangerous. It will take you at least half an hour,
and you should prepare yourself accordingly. Please note that
Cleland Conservation Park is closed on days of total fire ban - not
a big loss as most likely it's too hot to go walking anyway
Also, please do not attempt
the final cache when it is wet

The trail involved is rather less used than the superhighway to
Mt Lofty. I think bushwalking is about going new places and getting
away from the crowd.
In addition to bushwalking, the final location involves some
climbing. Not far, but far enough. To attempt it, you MUST be
slightly crazy, and have at least one other person with you to
administer first aid and call for help if you are hurt.
On this adventure, you should bring (as a minimum:)
- Sturdy walking shoes
- GPS
- Spare batteries
- Nerves of steel
- Magnetic compass
- Whistle
- Charged mobile phone
- 7m of string/rope for measuring
- A first aid kit (including a roller bandage) and know how
to use it!
- At least one other person.
- And some Dihydrogen Monoxide. If you are not familiar with
where to get it from, anyone with a degree in chemistry or
googlography will be able to help you.
Optional items include gaiters, walking pole, camera and
climbing shoes. There are blackberries about. There are also
snakes. Most likely the snakes will hear you coming and slither
away long before you arrive, but the blackberries are a bit more
stubborn. Climbing shoes are overkill really, I set the cache in my
hiking boots, but then I don’t own any climbing shoes…
Not optional: tell a reliable person where you are going.
The starting location is a carpark, please park your car,
bicycle, pogo stick or other vehicle here, it will be of no further
use. All waypoints are within 1km.
Please take note of the nearby picnic shelter. It has (X) metal
posts and (Y) concrete posts.
This cache used to have an extra waypoint at S 34° 58.4(Y-3)6' E
138° 40.8X5' however I haven't had time to maintain it so
unfortunately this stage of the cache is now removed. You do not
need to go there any more, but feel free to explore the trail up
there.
The final location is at S 34° 58.1(Y-5)6' E 138° 40.9X4'
The
DEH
have been a bit over-zealous with the closing of tracks of late.
The idea with bushwalking is that we don’t mind a few rocks and
stepping over a tree here and there is not a problem. If you don't
have local knowledge, head up the gully looking for an unmarked
track. If you get to second falls, you've gone too far.
At the final location, look around for the tallest rock in the
area. The cache is located 7m away, at 190 degrees magnetic.
Did you bring your nerves of steel?
Found a nice little cache-sized nook? It’s not in there, it’s
about 1m East

Original cache contents include an applause-o-matic (my
congratulations on finding this cache) and a water pistol (see if
you can get your buddy who's wimped out by this stage.)
