Geocache Description:

This regular plastic container style cache is located close to the Trig Point, up on Telegraph Hill at Kelling Heath.

The Cache is easiest reached by parking at Kelling Heath Car Park at N 52°55.925 E 01°07.298 and heading North towards Telegraph Hill following the path. The last section of the path leading to the cache can be very overgrown, and can be be full of nettles and brambles BEWARE.

Trig points were erected by he Ordnance Survey between 1936 & 1962 as part of the retriangulation of Great Britain. When all the Trig points were in place it was possible to see at least two other trig points from any trig point. Since they are no longer used due to Ariel photography, digital mapping and GPS measurement, many of these "Hotine" Pillars (named after Martin Hotine the cartographer responsible for the
retriangulation) are know being lost.
