Pub Crawl #6 Lumberman Dark Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

-DeRock-: Greetings,

While Geocaching.com would like to continue to hold the location for you, doing so blocks other cachers from placing caches in the area. We feel that this cache has been under the weather for a period of time exceeding what is reasonable for the area, and thus I regretfully must archive it.

If you are able to get out and replace the cache, simply drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. I will be more than happy to take a look at it to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

Thank you,

-DeRock-

Geocache Description:

A camoed coffee creamer container hidden in typical manner. Please use stealth when retrieving and rehide as good or better than found.

This pub crawl series was started to celebrate Michigan breweries. This particular cache is placed in honor of Grand Rapids Brewing located in... you guessed it..Grand Rapids.

In December of 1892, six local breweries made the decision to consolidate their operations in a joint venture to become a larger player in the making and distribution of beer throughout the midwest.

January 1,1893, marked the release of their signature brand: Silver Foam. In a very short span of time, The Grand Rapids Brewing Company became the largest producer of beer in West Michigan. As the fame of their Silver Foam spread from state to state, it became highly demanded in all parts of the country.

Yet, history was written for the brewery as Michigan voted to go dry during Prohibition. On April 27, 1918, the last pint of Silver Foam was sold.

In December of 1993, exactly one hundred years from the time of its original inception, the doors were open to the historically themed Grand Rapids Brewing Co. Now over a decade old, you can say that the Grand Rapids Brewing Co. has existed in three centuries: 1800s, 1900s, and the current century.

If you can take a little break from caching stop in for a taste of a small part of Michigan culture.
