Geocache Description:

--THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE ABOVE COORDINATES. THESE NUMBERS ONLY INDICATE THAT THE CACHE IS NORTH OF THE N. SASKATCHEWAN RIVER, IN THE CITY OF EDMONTON----

Once upon a time there was a doctor named Bob Allard. Bob enjoyed the outdoors immensely; he often paddled his kayak on the North Saskatchewan River. However, despite all the paddling in the world, he was still sad. On his fiftieth birthday, Bob had a midlife crisis. He decided to buy a race car to enter an auto race across the Alps, from The Vatican to Vienna, Austria.

He went to the car dealerships with his best friends, Mary Ramsey, Anne Driveslowski, and a colleague, Dr. Mike Drofasti. He first visited a Toyota dealership on Edmonton’s Whyte Avenue. He looked around the lot unimpressed. “A Toyota’s a Toyota” he quipped to Mary, but Bob wanted a Honda. He would not settle for a Toyota.

They could not find the Honda dealership, so they went to the Ford Dealer to look at Mustangs. "This is a sweet Honda!" said Dr. Drofasti, ignorant to the fact that Mustangs are not built in Japan. “It’s a Ford, Drofasti!” retorted Bob. Anne chimed in sarcastically “Yeah, Mike, have you been living under a rock since 1964 ½!?”

Bob looked very disheartened, and his friends were concerned.
“I was sad; no Hondas saw I” bemoaned Bob.
“Will this do, perhaps?”, asked Mary, pointing to a new Toyota Celica.
“Yes, Mary Ramsey” he reluctantly replied.
Anne was not impressed. She knew Bob could do better.
“Did you hear about Old Freddie Smith and the Celica that he won?” she asked.
“He won a Toyota now, eh?” noted Bob.
“He certainly did. And it caught fire after only 4500 miles on the engine” warned Anne. “I wouldn’t call him a winner. He ended up $12,000 in the hole after that repair bill!”

Dr. Drofasti, being a rich plastic surgeon, had a plan, however. He had purchased Bob, not a Honda, but a brand new Porsche 911. Just when Bob was feeling a sense of despair, Dr. Drofasti presented Bob with the keys to his new car. Bob was elated; he was now going to win the race across Europe!

Bob was so excited, he decided he wanted to bring his friends with him to Europe to participate in the race. “Anne, I vote more cars race Rome-to-Vienna!” And Bob wanted Mary, Anne and Dr. Drofasti to drive these cars!

Unfortunately, the day before they were set to leave for Rome, Dr. Drofasti was arrested for money laundering, obstruction of justice, and practicing medicine without a license. He had been running a scheme for many years, and sold prescriptions to pay for his expensive lifestyle. The Porsche, as well as the other cars, were repossessed. The gang was buying snacks for their trip at the Safeway at Westmount Mall (on Groat Road). When they returned to the parking lot, the Porsche was gone, and they were stranded at the mall.

“It’s okay”, said Anne. “I have another plan. Let’s go geocaching around here, there’s one right nearby!” Bob liked this idea, and forgot all about his dream of racing in Europe. Bob recited the coordinates of a nearby geocache that he had planted from memory.

He told the numbers to Mary, who wrote them down in one straight consecutive line of numbers, with the westing before the northing. Bob stayed at the mall, and the rest of the gang started walking to the cache. Shortly thereafter, Anne realized that they had spilled coffee on the papers. “No worries” commented Anne. “Bob gave me the coordinates, and we all know how he talks, so we can certainly figure out the rest of the coordinates quite easily. Fortunately, I remember that the middle number of the bunch was zero. We already know that this cache isn’t far from Westmount Mall, so I’m pretty sure that’s all we need.
