Artificial Christmas Tree #1 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

TeamBnE: After checking on this cache, today, I’ve determined, with a heavy heart, that it is time to lay this one to rest. Both the container and GZ have been destroyed … the large pine tree that hid the cache has been cut down, much of the surrounding hillside has been taken over by poison oak, and no other good hiding spots are located within acceptable parameters.

Geocache Description:

A very short but somewhat steep climb just off the road at a turnout. There is PO nearby, but when the cache was placed, there was none near, or on the way to the container location. Look east down the road for the namesake tree.

CONGRATS to plazmo for FTF!

Oh, El Dorado County, the home of many, many, many beautiful evergreen trees – so why do we need to ‘plant’ these artificial ones? We are sure a cacher engineered these communications installations, with a use of major caching skills, since most muggles drive right by them daily and have never seen them for what they really are. But, we can bet that now you’ve seen one, you will start noticing them everywhere. There is even a palm version on the side of the freeway in San Bernardino.

5/19/2008 UPDATE RE: POISION OAK
We noticed a little PO beginning on the edge of the trail to the cache....still VERY navigable, but be careful. Let us know if the crop gets worse...we will move to plan B and bring a gallon of Roundup!
