PurplePenguin: Checked up on this cache while on a walk around Clatworthy Reservoir today. The place has changed beyond recognition in the 13 years since I placed it - the tree has died and the brambles have grown up around it. The cache is rarely found and isn't easy to access from the permissive path around the reservoir, so I decided to remove the box and to archive the cache.

Geocache Description:

A short downhill walk over grass and maybe a bit of mud

Clatworthy reservoir is situated in the Brendon Hills on the edge of the Exmoor National Park in West Somerset. It impounds the head waters of the River Tone.

There is space to park where the road ends at N51 04.230 W003 22.776. From there it is a short downhill walk to the cache with a view of Clatworthy Reservoir on the way. There is one stile to cross.

The cache is right next to the footpath, so please make sure it is covered up with sticks and stones before you leave.

If you are feeling energetic, there is a 5 mile permissive path round the whole of the reservoir: (visit link)
The main car park and public toilets are on the east side of the reservoir but the cache is on the south west side at the end of a no through road. Dogs are allowed on the footpath to the cache but not on the permissive path round the reservoir. It seems that it isn't easy to access the footpath or nearby bridleway from the permissive path. There are sheep in the fields near the cache.

GPS coverage isn't great at the cache site, so the co-ordinates are an average of several readings.
