Catherine's Christmas Cracker, a multi-cache in Slievenacloy Nature Reserve, Lisburn. Waypoints have been simplified to enable a faster search, about one hour to complete. Note-taking required. Stoned paths to waypoints, some gradients; stout footwear advisable, and there is short off-track walk to the final cache. There is an additional BHP number in the cache to enable cachers to claim the series. The co-ordinates above are for main access and on-road parking.
Slievenacloy is a 125-hectare site patchwork of different types of habitat all blending together, including wildflower meadows, wet heathland and rush pasture. It is managed by the Ulster Wildlife Trust for the benefit of its rich diversity of plants and animals. With this in mind, be aware of cattle grazing on the site, take care not to disturb ground nesting birds in the spring and summer, and please keep any canine geocachers on a lead. Catherine was the enthusiatic warden at the time of placing this cache. Visit http://www.ulsterwildlifetrust.org/nature+reserves/Slievenacloy/ and learn about this fascinating reserve which is part of the Belfast Hills and sits on the outskirts of Belfast and Lisburn. The Hunt: There are lots of things to see. To get to the final cache, you must explore the nature reserve, and find out lots about the flora and fauna of this interesting reserve. Visit the waypoints listed below, and find the answer to each question. You'll need to figure out your own route between them, there is a map board at the farmhouse which may be of assistance - and might even save you some walking. The final cache is at:- N 54 3 (A-C).(B+C) (B-D) (A+B+C) W 06 0 (A-B+D).(A-B-D)(A-D)(A+B-C).
