Multi stage Cache in the St. Lawrence Borough Watershed
This cache will take you through a part of the St. Lawrence Watershed Property. The natural springs in these woods provided St. Lawrence Borough residents with fresh drinking water for about 40 years. As the Borough grew in population this system could no longer meet the demand for water, so in the mid 60’s the system was shut down and borough residents began getting water from Mt. Penn.
N40°19.784 W075°51.774 is the location of the trailhead and on-street parking is available at the intersection of Adams St. and Stoner Ave. Please DO NOT PARK above Stoner Ave. Thank You!
This multi cache has four stages and there are unmarked trail that will take you from stage to stage but not directly. A small amount of bushwhacking will be required. The first three stages are 35mm micros and the fourth is a medium size Geocache container for logging your visit and trading.
Stage one will take you to a remaining structure from St. Lawrence Borough water system. There are several more remnants from the water system in the area of the first stage so be sure to poke around. The second stage takes you across the property to a Quarry that operated until the early 50’s. At this stage you have a great view of the valley below. Please DO NOT climb up or down the quarry face, USE THE TRAIL! Stage three is at another remnant of years gone by. Stage four take you back to another structure from St. Lawrence Borough water system. There is a trail about 75 ft. to the SW from the fourth stage that will lead you back to the trailhead.
Note: Stage One was moved a few feet and the hint changed on 3/21/08.
