Treasure Island Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Wis Kid: I noticed that this cache has remained temporarily disabled for a period of time well in excess of the period of a few weeks as contemplated by the cache guidelines published on Geocaching.com. For now, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact me at the below e-mail address when you have the cache repaired, and assuming it still meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

If you haven't done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past.

Thanks for your understanding,

Geocache Description:

CACHE IS CURRENTLY DISABLED (Muggled or floated away in the flooding)

Yes, this cache is actually on an island. The island itself is roughly 300 feet offshore of a public park, "Riley Deppe Park." You will need a boat to reach the cache unless you go in winter when the lake is frozen, as I did to place it. The park itself is located off of highway 19, just outside of Marshall. There is a small playground here, a boat launch and a dock.

This cache might be a little difficult to get to, but I think it's worth the effort to play pirate for a little while. Cache contains quite a lot of small shiny things; coins, tokens, some costume jewelery, etc. Not much of great value, but there is a sterling silver cat charm, an old brass compass, a dollar bill folded into an origami heart, an old luck token with the Lord's Prayer on the back and other interesting bits.

Please try to leave something a bit nicer than the usual McToys, or at least something in keeping with the theme.

Terrain difficulty for this cache has been changed to a 5, because:

1) The park may not be plowed in winter
2) Cache requires special equipment (a boat) to reach, unless the ice is frozen
3) The island itself is overgrown and possibly marshy in some places, with no real landing place.

Don't swim here. The water isn't terribly clean. Nice park though, with picnic pavilion, small playground, grill, lots of parking and plenty of space to play Frisbee.
